Many South Africans have been in — or know someone affected by — a motor vehicle accident. The Road Accident Fund (RAF) compensates road accident victims, including drivers, passengers, cyclists and pedestrians, for injuries and lost income or earning capacity. Where a family breadwinner is killed in a road accident, dependants may claim for loss of support and funeral expenses.
